Alan Mendelson

Alan Mendelson is widely recognized as one of the most respected and experienced lawyers in the life sciences industry helping companies grow through every stage of the business life cycle. Mr. Mendelson served as a Senior Partner of Latham & Watkins LLP for over 20 years, recently retiring from the partnership in December 2020.

 

Earlier in his career, Mr. Mendelson served as outside counsel to Amgen, completing a joint venture with Kirin Brewery and a partnership agreement with Johnson & Johnson with respect to a new drug treatment for kidney patients. He later served as Secretary and Acting General Counsel at Amgen. He also experienced firsthand the effects kidney failure can have on people watching his friends suffer from kidney failure and later became President of NKF’s then Northern California affiliate for three years, served on the local Board of Directors for 12 years and has supported NKF events in the Bay Area for more than 35 years. Given his life sciences business acumen, Mr. Mendelson is an integral and active member of the life sciences academic, research, and business communities and serves on numerous distinguished boards.
