- 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 dried bay leaves
- 3 cups crushed tomatoes
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 cups tomato sauce
- 2½ tablespoons olive oil
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- Pepper, to taste

- Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent.
- Add the garlic and cook for 2 minutes, stirring often.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, bay leaves, salt, and pepper.
- Stir to combine.
- Bring the sauce to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the bay leaves.
- After 1 hour, stir in the parmesan cheese.
- Serve over whole grain pasta with a side green salad, or use as desired.
- Refrigerate or freeze leftovers.
