What can I donate?
The majority of our donations are cars, trucks, or vans. However, we accept boats, motorcycles, motor cross bikes, power sports equipment including ATVs, off-road motorcycles, and personal water craft such as Jet-Ski with a trailer hitch. We also accept farm and construction equipment including tractors with a serial number.

Can I donate a vehicle that doesn't run?
Yes, we are happy to accept vehicles whether they run or not, as long as it has a title.
How much will I receive as a tax deduction for my car?
Your deduction depends on the sale price of the vehicle. The National Kidney Foundation strives to bring in the highest price for your donation, selling each car in a competitive bidding environment.
You can deduct the value of your vehicle only if you itemize deductions when filing your taxes. Under the current IRS law, you may only deduct the actual sale price of your vehicle or $500 whichever is greater. A receipt indicating the sale price and date will be sent to you within 30 days from the date of pick up. What if I don't have my title?

What happens if there's an issue with my car after it's donated?
The National Kidney Foundation is here to support you long after the vehicle is donated. We will coordinate with local municipalities to document the donation of your vehicle.
Who will pick up my donated vehicle?
The National Kidney Foundation partners with a network of licensed towers across the country to tow your vehicle safely and efficiently.
How long does it take to get my vehicle picked up?
Usually, we pick up your vehicle on the next business day. We will work with you on scheduling a pick up that best fits your schedule, please call 800.488.2277 for more details.
What if my car did not pass the emission test?
No problem. The National Kidney Foundation accepts vehicles in any condition.
What should I do with my license plate after I donate my car?
The following states require license plates remain with the vehicle, unless they are personalized. Please contact your local department of motor vehicles if you have additional questions:

Are donated vehicles tax deductible?
Yes, the National Kidney Foundation is a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) corporation. All donations are tax deductible. Since each case is different, it is best to consult your tax advisor or accountant for details.
What will happen to my car?
Once a car is donated, it is sold through auction to recyclers and dealers. The National Kidney Foundation sells each car in a competitive bidding environment, offered to thousands of buyers who may recondition your vehicle, or recycle it for its most valuable use. Many donated vehicles that are not in running condition are recycled. After the car sells, the National Kidney Foundation uses the proceeds to fund lifesaving programs and services for millions of Americans who have kidney disease.
Do I have to be home or with the vehicle when it is picked up?
You do not have to be home. We will make arrangements to pick up your vehicle at a time that is most convenient for you.
