There are innumerable causes of swelling in the feet and ankles. I recommend that you continue to follow with your physician and follow a low salt diet. I find that if you keep your sodium intake to less than 2000 milligrams of sodium per day, that swelling tends to improve. I suggest that you review the information about the DASH diet at: http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/health-topics/topics/dash/ You should also consult with a dietitian about your current intake and ways in which you could further restrict your salt intake. This may also help muscle cramps.
