I have a kidney stone that is 5.5mm in my left kidney and 3.5mm in my right kidney. What should I be eating? Will the stone automatically be removed from my kidney?

Stones that are less than 5 millimeters (mm) in size will generally pass without surgical intervention. You should drink plenty of water, and drink water in sufficient quantities to force you to awaken at night and then drink water in the middle of the night. You should also follow a DASH diet. You should follow a low-salt diet (less than 2000 milligrams of sodium intake per day) and you can review the DASH diet at: http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/public/heart/hbp/dash/new_dash.pdf
Sometimes we use medications to help you pass the stones. You should consult with your physician to see if such medications are advisable.
