Eggs are an animal protein. However, they are a very high value protein and it is safe for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) to eat. We do limit milk and dairy products in patients with Stage 4 or 5 CKD. If you are Stage 3, I would not limit. Hence, if your estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is less than 30 milliliters per minute per 1.73 meters squared, you should limit your diet to some extent.
