What is PD?

Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) is a form of dialysis that is performed by placing a surgically implanted catheter into the abdomen and then infusing cleaning solution (dialysate) into the abdomen several times daily to permit blood cleansing through your abdominal wall.  This dialysis is done 24 hours a day and seven days per week.  It may be done during the day or be done at night with the help of a cycler machine.
