More Resources
BenefitsCheckUp
BenefitsCheckUp is a free service from the National Council on Aging (NCOA). It helps you find state, federal, and private benefit programs in your area. These programs can help pay for prescriptions, health care, food, utilities, and more. You can also get help with tax relief, transportation, legal issues, and job searches.
Medicare Part D Extra Help
If you have Medicare and need help paying for prescriptions, you may qualify for the Part D Extra Help program. It helps lower costs like deductibles and copays for people with limited income and resources. You can apply online through the United States Social Security Administration website.
NeedyMeds
NeedyMeds is a non-profit organization that helps people find programs to lower the cost of medications and other healthcare expenses.
Patient Access Network (PAN) Foundation
The PAN Foundation offers financial help to make prescription medicines more affordable. It supports people with chronic or rare diseases who have insurance but still need extra help paying for their medications.
State Kidney Programs
These programs are offered in about 15 states and help cover outpatient medicines and other costs for people on dialysis or with a kidney transplant. Ask your social worker if this program is available where you live and whether you qualify.
State Pharmaceutical Assistance Programs (SPAPs)
Many states offer programs that help pay for prescription insurance premiums or medication costs. These programs are not specific to kidney disease, and eligibility rules vary by state. Ask your social worker if a State Pharmaceutical Assistance Program (SPAP) could help you.
The Assistance Fund
The Assistance Fund (TAF) is a nonprofit organization that helps patients and families manage high medical costs. It provides financial help for copays, deductibles, and other health expenses. TAF offers programs for many conditions, including those that affect people living with kidney disease.
