Spiceology Expands Salt-Free Line to Benefit the National Kidney Foundation, the American Heart Association and Tastebuds Everywhere
SPOKANE, Wash., June 25, 2021 -- Spiceology, Inc., the fastest-growing spice company in America, today announced the addition of four new, innovative, salt-free spice blends to its salt-free line, designed to bring flavor and deliciousness to consumers tired of sacrificing taste for health. Spiceology will donate up to 15% of the purchase price of all four new products, split evenly between the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) and American Heart Association (AHA).*
The four new flavors were selected by consumers as part of a “Choose Flavor” contest sponsored by Spiceology, together with the NKF and AHA. Consumers selected from 11 possible options, and the four winners were Buffalo Wing, Fryless Chicken, Loaded Baked Tater and Unsalted Caramel. These new salt-free blends join the existing roster of 13 Spiceology salt-free seasonings that include Really Ranch, Guac & Roll, Mango Tango and Everything Bagel.
"Individuals with various forms of kidney or heart disease will typically need to substantially alter their diets, and in particular, reduce or even eliminate salt intake,” said Chip Overstreet, president & CEO of Spiceology, Inc. “Spiceology’s research showed that many consumers were ‘less than excited’ by the salt-free options available on the market, so our team of chefs created and launched 13 new seasonings in August 2020, and we’ve now followed it up with another 4. We’re excited to bring more joy to those individuals either needing or simply wanting a lower salt diet.”
Millions of Americans pursuing healthier lifestyles are already reducing salt in their diets. Many others have been advised by their doctors to restrict sodium and salt due to serious health issues, such as high blood pressure and kidney disease. The challenge for consumers who must reduce their salt intake is enduring bland food and boring meals, which was a challenge that Spiceology's chefs couldn't resist.
Over 37 million adults in the U.S. are affected by kidney disease, and another 100 million are afflicted with high blood pressure and various forms of heart disease. A healthy, low-salt diet can be critically important to the health of these patients and in helping reduce the impacts of these diseases. In addition to being salt-free, the line of seasonings is dairy-free, allowing those with more restrictive diets to embrace delicious flavor.
"When your kidneys are not healthy, extra sodium and fluid can buildup in your body," said Kevin Longino, CEO of National Kidney Foundation and a kidney transplant patient. "Allowing kidney patients and those looking to reduce their salt intake to find easy and delicious ways to enjoy a low-sodium diet makes us that much more excited to partner with Spiceology.’”

About Kidney Disease
In the United States, 37 million adults are estimated to have chronic kidney disease—and approximately 90 percent don't know they have it. 1 in 3 American adults are at risk for chronic kidney disease. Risk factors for kidney disease include: diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity, and family history. People of African American, Hispanic, American Indian, Asian, or Pacific Islander descent are at increased risk for developing the disease. African Americans are almost 4 times more likely than White Americans to have kidney failure. Hispanics are 1.3 times more likely than non-Hispanics to have kidney failure.
