About Affiliated Local Chapters
What is an affiliated local chapter?
The National Kidney Foundation has four professional councils that serve in an advisory capacity to the Foundation. These councils are the Council on Renal Nutrition (CRN), Council for Nephrology Social Workers (CNSW), Council for Nephrology Nurses & Technicians (CNNT), and Council for Advanced Practitioners (CAP).
CRN, CNSW, and CNNT have local chapters that carry on the work of NKF by providing education and programs that meet the needs of their specific communities and professional members.
These local chapters complete an affiliation application with the National Kidney Foundation when they are chartered, and then submit a renewal every two years.
What is the difference between national membership and local chapter membership?
Affiliated local chapters may maintain their own local membership requirements and lists. Membership in a local chapter does not give a person membership in the national organization.
National membership does not automatically give a person membership in an affiliated local chapter. Local chapters should ensure that members are aware of the differences between local membership and national membership.
