Cassandra Parker’s love for the renal field developed when she was young child when her mother was a nurse at a local dialysis center. Her mother was a wealth of knowledge and Cassandra could see how much her mom loved working in the renal field. When Cassandra was a teenager, she got her first job as a part-time secretary in a dialysis facility, and she instantly fell in love with dynamics of the care team and their patients. Cassandra has worked in renal dietetics for over 13 years. Cassandra is currently the Regional Lead Renal Dietitian for American Renal Associates in Dallas, TX. Cassandra attended the University of Texas at Austin and received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition. After completing her undergrad schoolworks, she moved to Houston to attend Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. While she was at Sam Houston, she completed her dietetic internship and earned her Master of Science in Dietetics and a minor in Health. Cassandra was the chair of Ft. Worth Council of Renal Nutrition for the three years and is the current social media chair. During this time, she helped spearhead and plan the local NKF symposium for her local CRN chapter. Cassandra helps precept for dietetic interns from UTSW.
Cassandra’s passion for the renal world continues to grow and she considers the best part of the job is the relationships that she able to build with her patients and to provide them with a foundation to make healthy decisions for themselves.
